As a purpose-led global company, we believe in acting responsibly, operating sustainably, and being a force for positive change. Every year, we publish our environmental, social, and governance (ESG) report to share our performance on key areas that are important to our organisation and our stakeholders. This includes key actions and initiatives across the five pillars of our strategy: Governance and Trust, Our People, Tech for Good, Our Communities, and the Environment. Below are a few of the highlights from the past year.

Governance and trust

We operate with our six core values always in mind: customer focus, shared ambition, agility, equity, optimism, and transparency. They guide our efforts as a business, and they help us to maintain the highest standards of corporate governance, responsible innovation, and information security. Last year, we successfully safeguarded our customers’ data from material data breaches, developed a set of AI Ethics Principles, and further strengthened internal compliance policies and controls.

Our people

Whether it’s employee experience, engagement, talent planning, or pay equity, we want our people to have an opportunity to thrive. We made several meaningful investments last year to live up to that commitment. This includes extending a robust paid parental leave policy to all families globally, making meaningful progress towards achieving pay equity, and launching our Achieving Corporate Equity (ACE) program to empower high-potential talent from underrepresented and underserved communities to rise within our ranks. In response to the invasion of Ukraine, we also welcomed more than a dozen refugees from the country into our workforce.

Tech for good

Two of Ceridian’s greatest strengths are our industry-leading innovation and our differentiated technologies. They have helped us develop powerful tools to advance change, including Dayforce Wallet. It’s founded on the simple proposition that people deserve the right to access earned pay. New research shows that 7 in 10 users report positive impacts on their mental health, as well as a better ability to keep up with bills. Last year, we also completed full integration of Dayforce Talent Intelligence across Dayforce Recruiting, Performance Management, Compensation and Engagement to support fair, equitable, and efficient talent decision-making.

Our communities

As a global company, we have a unique opportunity to make a difference in communities all around the world. Last year, nearly three thousand employees in 16 countries either donated their time or resources to support impactful organisations. This was a 40% increase since 2021, and one driver of this progress was our first-ever company-wide Global Volunteer Week. The feedback was so positive that we’re extending it to a full month this year. In addition, our employee-driven charity Ceridian Cares surpassed $5 million in grants given to families in need since its founding. Our charity focuses on providing financial assistance to families that require support and improving the communities in which we live and work.

Environment

Climate change poses a dire threat to the long-term survival of humanity on this planet. Last year, we strengthened our efforts to combat it by shrinking our carbon footprint and further embedding sustainable policies and practices across our company. This included securing 100% renewable electricity across our global operations, reducing our annual Scope 1 & 2 greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions by 97% and our Scope 3 emissions by 28% over the past four years, and publishing our inaugural Task Force on Climate-related Financial Disclosures (TCFD) Index. We also significantly reduced our operational impacts since 2019, including a 61% reduction in energy use, a 90% reduction in water withdrawals, and a 90% reduction in waste.

The road ahead

Although we’re proud of the progress we have made, we also recognise that there’s a great deal more work left to do. We’re fundamentally committed to making it a reality, and we encourage you to learn more about our sustainability journey by diving into this year’s report.
