Aéropostale Successfully Manages Young Workforce

AeropostaleAéropostale is not only one of the leading outfitters of American teenagers, it is also one of the leading employers of them. In its more than one thousand stores across the country, Aéropostale employs thousands of young workers, which gives the company a certain amount of cache among young consumers, but also a fair amount of headaches in terms of labor compliance, scheduling and attendance. In states like Rhode Island and California, which have strict work regulations for minors, Aéropostale used to have difficulty managing its young workforce – until it turned to Ceridian.

After adopting Ceridian's comprehensive and intuitive Dayforce HCM system, Aéropostale found that it had much more flexibility and control over its payroll services, workforce management and talent management. Instead of struggling to manually balance schedules (which often had to account for varying school and vacation hours) and overtime compliance issues, Aéropostale was able to utilize Ceridian's services to save time and money and improve employee satisfaction.

Despite its reputation for taking a conservative approach to new technology, Aéropostale felt confident that Dayforce could revolutionize its workforce and quickly rolled out a pilot program in the fall of 2010, just in time for the holiday rush.

"We implemented [Ceridian] Dayforce on time and under budget, which was a wonderful achievement in itself," said Julie Sedlock, group VP of Store Operations for the company. “And the ROI we've experienced on the software investment is even greater than we anticipated."

Since partnering with Ceridian, Aéropostale has found it much simpler to manage the complicated schedules and compliance issues of its mostly teen workforce. Instead of sticky notes and error-prone spreadsheets, the company relies on Ceridian's cutting-edge software - a big step for a conservative company.
