Background and Details of the Change:
Last year, the EEOC announced a change to the EEO-1 Report. The first deadline for the new report is March 31, 2018, which makes 2017 a transition period. The changes to the report are outlined below.
The following report data elements have been revised:
- Summary pay data: Employers must report the total number of full and part-time employees during the reporting year, in each of 12 pay bands listed for each EEO-1 Job Category. Employers will use earnings reported in Box 1 of the W-2 Form.
- Aggregate hours worked data: Employers count and report the number of hours worked that year by all the employees accounted for in each pay band.
- Workforce snapshot period: The new period is October 1 to December 31.
General Impact to Employers:
Affected employers, which include (both private and Federal contractors with 50-99 employees), will need to compile the summary pay data and aggregate hours worked to include in the revised EEO-1 Report.
