2015 health plan rates likely on the rise

Health insurers are already preparing to raise rates next year for health plans issued under the Affordable Care Act (ACA). Their calculation of how much, however, is still to be determined, as rate calculations largely depend on how well the providers can predict how newly enrolled customers – for whom little is known regarding health status and medical needs – will affect 2015 costs. Why employers need to understand ACA’s limited non-assessment periods

To avoid Affordable Care Act (ACA)-related penalties, employers should be familiar with certain grace periods. The final employer shared responsibility regulations issued in February clarified certain time periods that employers will not be liable for penalties for failing to offer qualifying health coverage to a full-time employee. Penalties will not apply for an otherwise eligible employee during what they refer to as limited non-assessment periods. Read about the details of the limited non-assessment periods at EBN.  

Survey finds workplace flexibility is increasing

A new study finds that policies offering workers more job flexibility are increasing. Results released by SHRM and the Families and Work Institute found that two-thirds of survey respondents reported offering remote work options, which is an increase of 17 percentage points compared to a similar survey conducted six years ago. HR takes less than 5 minutes to review a resume

A recent poll conducted by SHRM found that 76 percent of respondents generally take less than five minutes to review a resume and determine if an applicant is a potential fit for the job opening. The poll also revealed that resume inaccuracies and errors can prove costly to a job candidate. Read more poll results at SHRM.

Nucleus Research identifies Ceridian as leader in human capital management

In its 2014 Technology Value Matrix for Human Capital Management, Nucleus Research has once again identified Ceridian in a Leadership position. The report says, “Ceridian provides deep functionality in payroll, benefits, time and attendance, and employee and talent management.
