Mar 27, 2014

The Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP) has made changes related to requirements pertaining to federal contractors in the recruiting, hiring and employment of individuals with disabilities (IWDs). Section 503 of The Rehabilitation Act of 1973 “prohibits federal contractors and subcontractors from discriminating in employment against […] IWDs, and requires these employers to take affirmative action to recruit, hire, promote, and retain these individuals,” as stated by the U.S. Department of Labor. Changes comprise a new pre–job offer veterans status form, a new form for IWDs to self-identify, and changes to reporting requirements related to the hiring of IWDs. The new data collection requirements went into effect in March 2014.
