FMLA: A quiet storm blowing winds of change

While the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA) has increased challenges for many companies, paid FMLA has the potential to throw an even bigger wrench into an already complex situation. To date, two bills have been introduced in Congress, each with its own approach to mandating paid family medical leave. It is unsure whether these bills will see action in Congress, but paid leave under FMLA continues to be at the top of the agenda for many politicians.

Time to cut costs and improve productivity? Consider automating your time data collection processes.

Big, small or somewhere in-between, businesses of all sizes are feeling the economic pinch. In the rush to trim budgets, managers are challenged to find ways to reduce costs in every aspect of their businesses. Bush issues executive order on E-Verify

On June 6, President Bush signed a presidential order requiring all federal contractors to use the E-Verify program to check their new hires' work eligibility. While E-Verify use is currently voluntary, President Bush's order appears to be the first step in making it mandatory for all employers.

Health and productivity affecting your ROI? Measure your organization's health with a risk assessment.

Decreased on-the-job productivity represents a large, yet poorly defined cost to employers. And studies have shown that lost productivity due to employee ill health and incidental absences costs employers some $330 billion each year. As more and more companies recognize that improved overall employee health can positively impact the bottom line, you may wonder how you can diagnose the health of your organization. The best way to start any health initiative is to get a baseline measurement with a health risk assessment.
