Find the right training to help you excel in your career

The business world is ever changing and it's important for you to keep up with the fast pace. A great way to stay on top of the latest and greatest is through regular training and education.

If you don't have the time to dedicate to attending semester-long courses, doing homework and studying for exams, alternative training options are available. For example, attending a business conference allows you to fit a lot of development opportunities into a short time span.

Regular training is especially important in fields that are constantly changing such as the HR and payroll industries where technology and legislation play a big role in the job. The right training can help you excel in your career -- a benefit to both you and your employer. Learning new skills and knowledge that you can apply to your job makes you a more valuable employee to your organization. It may also open the door to potential growth opportunities.

Choosing a conference to attend
Many training opportunities are available; picking the right option can be a challenge. Consider the following questions when making your decision:

What are your training needs?
Are there specific skills or knowledge that you could gain or expand on to help you in your career? Many training conferences focus on specific industries or jobs. This gives you an opportunity to network with your peers and share trade secrets. And, you can build on your skills to do your job better.

Is there a variety of relevant sessions to choose from?
Odds are that not every session offered is going to catch your interest. A conference that offers multiple session topics to choose from during each time slot gives you options -- allowing you to select only the sessions that are most interesting and relevant to your job.

Can you earn industry certifications or continuing education credits by
attending a conference?

Industry certifications are a great way to prove you've got some knowledge in a specific area. For example, the Human Resource Certification Institute offers certifications for HR professionals which indicate a certain level of proficiency in the profession. Instead of attending separate courses or training events for certification and recertification, you may be able to find a training conference that is approved to offer several hours worth of credits towards those industry certifications.

Who will be speaking at the event?
Are session presenters respected or known experts in their fields? You are attending the conference to learn and grow professionally, so it's important that the presenters are truly knowledgeable, can communicate their message well and offer value to the audience.

Determining what your training needs are and weighing your options will help you identify a conference that suits you.

Ceridian's customer training conference: INSIGHTS
INSIGHTS, Ceridian's annual customer training conference, offers excellent training for HR and payroll professionals. The 2007 conference is scheduled for July 15-19 at the Gaylord Palms Resort & Convention Center in Kissimmee, Florida.

You'll find everything you're looking for at INSIGHTS, from a wide variety of
training and networking to one-on-one consultations and motivating speakers.

Attend up to a dozen 90-minute sessions during the conference. You can mix and match the sessions you want to attend, or follow one of the training tracks to focus on a specific area. Tracks are organized by type (HR/payroll products, tax filing, compliance, professional development) or by job function (human resources, payroll, benefits, management).

Many of the sessions are approved for:

APA Recertification Credits - By attending INSIGHTS, you can earn up to 18 continuing education credits toward recertification for the American Payroll Association's Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) and Fundamental Payroll Certification (FPC) designations.

HRCI Recertification Credits - You can also earn up to 18 recertification credit hours toward Professional in Human Resources (PHR), Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) and Global Professional in Human Resources (GPHR) certification
through the Human Resource Certification Institute.

Ceridian University Diploma - In addition to earning recertification credits, you can broaden your Ceridian product knowledge and earn a Ceridian University Diploma.

Aside from attending educational sessions, resources are available to help you get your product questions answered. The Resource Center is staffed with Ceridian product experts who can assist you with learning how to create formulas, reports and screens, exploring advanced functions, as well as reviewing exercises and content addressed in the conference sessions.

This conference receives rave reviews year after year from attendees. Of the customers who attended INSIGHTS 2006, 98 percent said that they would readily recommend INSIGHTS to their colleagues; 77 percent said they plan to attend the conference again in 2007.
