Web Event Announcement: Managing Through Fear in Light of Tragic Events

Please join us for a one hour workshop to discuss tips and strategies for managing through the fear and anxiety of tragic events.

Many Americans are feeling shocked, confused and vulnerable in the wake of the April 16 mass shootings at Virginia Tech that left 33 people dead and dozens more injured. As details about the shootings emerge, many people are still wondering why and how such a tragic event could have happened.

Friends and parents of Virginia Tech students and staff have been hit hard by this tragedy, but it has also affected those who don't have a personal connection to the school. Traumatic events like this make people feel frightened and unsafe.

In this workshop we'll discuss:   

• Understanding and recognizing the normal reactions to traumatic events
• Coping with fears and anxiety after a trauma
• Strategies for managing the emotions of traumatic events
• Tips for reducing your anxiety

About our facilitator

Jeff Krause, MS, LMFT, CEAP, Ceridian clinical supervisor

Jeff joined Ceridian in 2003. As a Clinical Supervisor, he is responsible for providing clinical management services at Ceridian. In his role of Clinical Quality Assurance, he offers clinical oversight and consultation to our employee assistance program (EAP) staff consultants and our service centers.

Jeff brings 20 years of clinical experience in a variety of settings, which includes nearly 15 years of direct EAP experience. Before joining Ceridian, his experience includes work as a mental health disability consultant, manager of EAP consultation services, managed care case manager, and mental health therapist and EAP provider in a private practice setting.

Jeff received his master's degree in Clinical Psychology and Community Services from Georgia State University in 1986. He is a licensed marriage and family therapist (LMFT) and a certified employee assistance professional (CEAP).
