Ceridian Launches Employee Assessment Tools to Help Clients Assess, Hire and Retain the Right Person for the Right Job

Markham, Ontario, April 21, 2005 -- Ceridian Canada today announced it has signed a business partner agreement with Texas-based Profiles International, Inc. to offer Profiles' Employee Assessment Tools to Ceridian clients across Canada. These self-administered Web-based tools provide employers the ability to do role-specific assessments using customizable patterns to determine a candidate's suitability to a specific job.

"High turnover in the workplace today is costing companies thousands of dollars in lost productivity, re-hiring and re-training efforts, and business disruption," said Jim Burns, president of Ceridian Canada. "Our partnership with Profiles International gives us the tools to help our clients address this problem by making better hiring decisions and putting the right person in the right job. It's a win-win situation for both the employee and the employer. And, these new tools complement our portfolio of HR services that help organizations to maximize the value of people."

"This alliance with Ceridian promises significant impact on both companies," said Profiles International's CEO Jim Sirbasku. "With our emphasis on putting the right person and the right job together, and Ceridian's expertise in human resource services, we make an excellent match."

Employee Assessment Tools can be used by organizations of all sizes to:
  • Hire the right people the first time around. It's a known fact that most hiring decisions are made in haste and two out of three new hires disappoint within the first year. In addition, with 95% of candidates exaggerating their qualifications, it makes sense for employers to use assessments to effectively determine what is below the "tip of the iceberg", differentiate between similar candidates, obtain a deeper understanding of cultural fit, and see how closely candidate profiles align with those of their top performers.
  • Reduce employee turnover by finding the right people. On average, two out of three employees would rather work somewhere else, and turnover costs thousands of dollars for every departing employee, yet 80% of turnover is avoidable. Assessments ensure the person being hired can, will and wants to do the job.
  • Improve employee productivity and reduce absenteeism. Absenteeism costs employers over $750 per employee annually. Employees who are happy in their job are actively engaged and highly productive.
  • Mitigate risk by using objective, documented assessment tools. These tools provide support to employers in validating their hiring practices. With one out of three businesses today involved in litigation related to employment issues, properly implemented assessment programs can help in reducing risk.
Ceridian's Talent Acquisition Practice Leader, Michael Palmer, commented that, "the Employee Assessment Tools offering is complementary to, and an integral part of, our Talent Acquisition Practice. It fits well with our fully managed recruiting offering, adding value to the services we provide our clients."
