Ceridian's new HIRE Act Incentives Estimator is easy to use and helps employers estimate the value of hiring new employees under the terms of the new law

Minneapolis, May 4, 2010 - Ceridian Corporation, a leading provider of managed human resource, employee benefits administration, tax filing and payroll outsourcing solutions, recently released its HIRE Act Incentives Estimator. The Estimator is a PDF-based calculator that can be used by employers to help determine potential tax benefits available to them under the Hiring Incentives to Restore Employment Act of 2010.

The Estimator is available on Ceridian's web site at HIRE Act. Unlike other HIRE Act calculators, Ceridian's calculator was produced in a detailed, customized PDF format. "The format of our calculator was designed to be comprehensive and flexible," commented Keith Strodtman, senior vice president and general manager, Ceridian HRO. "Users can complete it online or download the tool and save it in a convenient location for future reference and use."

The Hiring Incentives to Restore Employment (HIRE) Act of 2010, provides employers with two incentives that can be used to save money and stimulate employment:

• An employer Social Security tax exemption of 6.2 percent (.062) of Social Security wages paid to each qualified employee, and


• A retention tax credit of 6.2 percent of federal income taxable wages paid to each qualified employee who remains employed for 52 continuous weeks, not to exceed $1,000

After completing five simple fields of information, Ceridian's Estimator automatically provides the user with several detailed tax saving breakdowns for the 2010 Social Security Tax Exemption for Hiring, and the 2011 Business Tax Credit for 52-Week Retention. For instance, an employer who hired an employee on May 17 with a first pay period of May 28 and bi-weekly compensation of $1538 could provide the employer with a 2010 benefit of up to $1525.70 and a 2011 benefit of $1,000, or a total two year benefit of $2525.70.
